If you go down to the shops today…

Well, I decided to get over my blogger’s block by launching straight in with a few lovely things I’ve spotted on recent shopping jaunts.

First up: is it just me, or does this coffee table have more than a faint whiff of the 1950s about it? Bet you can’t guess where I saw it… go on, have a try….

At £149, it’s perhaps a bit more than you’d expect to pay in IKEA (no, really) but to be fair, it’s something that’d be more at home in Heals with a much heftier price tag. Could it be that the Scandinavian Flatpack Bargainmeisters are going all upmarket? They’ll be getting Jo Malone to do their bumper bags of tea-lights next…

Meanwhile, I spied these delights during a trip to Peter Jones department store on Sloane Square and almost did a perilous about-turn on the escalators. I don’t see these looking out of place in a 1950s sitting room; there were some other great designs too which aren’t on the website so you’ll have to get yourselves to John Lewis to see them all.

They stock Sanderson’s gorgeous Dandelion Clock design fabric too which I feel  owes something to Angie Lewin:

So if it’s a tasteful, European-looking 1950s interior you’re after, it seems like you don’t have to look too hard at the moment. All I need now is the house…
